The GAS phenomenon

GAS PHENOMENON'. Hmm... You might be wondering that this blog has got something to do with science and research. You would be thinking about the states of matter, molecular structures, atomic masses and many other complex terminologies. But I assure you that it is none of that. Read on to find out what it exactly means...    We all are indeed blessed to have taken birth in such a beautiful planet, where so many tiny and big creatures exist together. God has given us so much to cherish, such that we will never be able to thank Him enough.               There are many human virtues which hold a lot of  importance in modern society.  Here are three such values which can be summed up in the acronym GAS . Poem-When you are happy and you know...

We all are blessed to have been born in this beautiful world, with so much to admire. We often take natural beauty for granted, and instead begin lamenting about the various problems we face in our lives. One thing is for certain, our problems are more or less self-created. No one really imposes these problems upon us. We must not have a parochial outlook towards life. Life teaches us lessons every moment. Let us learn, and carve a niche for ourselves in this magnificent world... Here is a poem which describes the beauty of nature. It also emphasizes the importance of having gratitude towards the Almighty for giving us so much to cherish... The birds chirp on in the valley As I write this piece I am really finding it difficult to tally The beauty of nature and the problems of my niece( not literally!😊)                           There are proble...

UNIFORM CIVIL CODE: IS IT NEEDED OR NOT?

Politics is a subject filled with debates and discussions. Everyone has his/her own perspective on certain issues; which may be contradicted by others. One such hotly debated issue over the last few decades has been that of the Uniform Civil Code, or the UCC. In simple words, ‘Uniform Civil Code’ basically aims at replacing personal laws based on scriptures and customs of each major religious community in India with a common set of rules governing all citizens.. This has also been mentioned in Article 44 of the Directive Principles of State Policy in our constitution, which states- ‘The State shall endeavour to secure for citizens a uniform civil code throughout the country.’ The basis of ‘Uniform Civil Code’ can be traced back to the British Era, when Lord William Bentinck, the Governor General of India tried to suppress Sati by passing Bengal Sati Regulation in 1829. It regained attention during the Shah Bano Case in 1985. Shah Bano, a divorcee, filed a case in court ag...

The art of dreaming big

DREAM BIG Robin Sharma has very rightly quoted in his amazing book, ‘The Greatness Guide’: “Too many of us are afraid to be ourselves. So we give up on our dreams to follow the crowd.” We all have so many dreams which we wish could be fulfilled. Many of us have sleepless nights visualizing ourselves achieving our dreams and standing on top of the world. We all have aspirations to be the best, and to bring about a change in this ever-changing world. These dreams can be put under various categories. We have certain dreams to set up a good family. Every student aspires to get good grades in their school. Many kids also aspire to emulate their football stars by hitting a bicycle kick (maybe Christiano Ronaldo). Many people question the art of dreaming big by saying that people actually don’t work towards them. In my view, DREAMING BIG IS THE FIRST STEP IN THE BIG LADDER OF SUCCESS . Unless we dream big, we will not even begin working towards our goals in life. Thus, v...

Poem-The VIP and the cake-seller

Poem- The VIP and the Cake seller Once, when I was going back home in my car I saw a person selling cakes As I was coming from my office, which was quite far I decided to eat something, and hence applied the brakes.                                       I went towards the vendor, who was standing alone                                     And asked him,  “The cakes have been prepared by whom?”                                       He said that he had made them on his own     ...

Tips to succeed in board exams

Exams have become such an integral part of our lives. In India, the period from March to June can be called the season of examinations. According to me, in the contemporary world, exams are insignificant, as they don't help us hone our skills in any way. But, let us face it: If we need to get admitted in the best college in the country or in the world, we have to perform well in our exams. Giving my Tenth Standard Board exams was a wonderful experience. It gave me a good outlook as to what a competitive exam is like. I will call it 'memorable' not because of the marks I scored; but because I acquired lots of value systems in the whole process. In particular, I learnt how to set targets for myself and work towards them with perseverance. Here are a few tips which can help you crack board exams with ease- 1. Getting rid of fear- This is the first step on the ladder of success in exams. Don't get panicky at any point of time. If any person tries to pressurise yo...
