Siblings are such an important part of our lives, aren't they? The joy of having a brother or a sister is second to none. Siblings bring more light into our lives, and fill life with more colour and happiness. I am blessed to have a younger brother; someone who keeps the house lively at all points of time. I learn a lot from him. His attitude towards life is worth admiring. His disposition of remaining calm under difficult circumstances is indeed remarkable.
Both of us are poles apart. I am an introvert, loving my own space. On the other hand, my brother is an extrovert. He just needs someone to be talking with him, and engaging him in some manner or the other. If he does not go down to play, you will soon find someone calling him down. His leadership qualities are indeed amazing, and children look up to him.
What matter more is that both of us have immense mutual respect. We understand that we have different strengths, and if we make optimal use of our strengths, we can make the world a better place to live on. We cherish each other's company. I try and help him with studies; he helps me with handling mobile phones and gadgets (you know how tech savvy I am!:).
But, what I love the most about my brother is that he takes life in his own stride, and lives in the moment. He cherishes each moment, and lives it to the fullest.
My parents named him 'Vishesh' because he was born on Children's Day, i.e, 14th of November, also fondly remembered as Jawaharlal Nehru's birthday. Another reason behind giving him that name was that they were sure that this boy was made for something special; and surely he is on course for performing some wonderful deeds for mankind.
As he turns 14, all ready to grab the wonderful opportunities coming his way, here is a short poem dedicated to him:-
POEM- THE GIFT OF A BROTHER
There are few things in life
that are more beautiful and heart-warming
than the gift of having a younger brother.
someone who makes you realise the depth of life,
someone who adds more exuberance to life,
someone who spreads joy and optimism in times of strife,
someone who can makes you understand the real meaning of life...
Hey, dear younger brother,
I remember the day I stood outside the maternity ward
waiting with bated breath; asking my father and the Lord
'Is it a boy or a girl?'
But when I saw you, I did not think twice
I went and fervently kissed you on your cheek,
because you were, and surely are, indeed a pearl!
I fondly recall the wonderful times we have spent together
the movies we have enjoyed watching in leisure
the songs that we have sung in ecstasy
and the many games we have played, irrespective of the weather.
I admire you for your calm disposition
And for your lively nature
Keep the energy going and move towards your ambition
to become a swimmer par excellence and a sportsperson of great stature
Well, you are no more the young boy with chubby cheeks
you are now a grown-up teenager,
with lots to learn in life and to enamour
On this special day, here is a message for you-
KEEP SMILING; YOUR SMILE IS TO YOUR FACE, WHAT A CHERRY IS TO A CAKE. WHEN YOU SMILE, YOUR FACE RADIATES WITH OPTIMISM, AND MAKES ALL OF US FEEL PEACEFUL !!!😊
Overwhelmed to read this.. Blessed to have a child like you.. And a child like Vishesh too.. Many happy returns!
